About
One guitarist and his computer
Drop2 is made by one person — the app, the sound, and every page of this site. This page says who, and how the pieces fit.
Who
I am Oliver Duschka, a software developer and jazz guitarist south of Munich. Drop2 is a solo project: I write the iOS app, design its interface, build its sound, and write the articles here.
What Drop2 is
The Drop2 app is a jazz-guitar practice studio for iPhone. Its center is the drop-2 voicing vocabulary — the four-note chord shapes compers actually use — taught, drilled, and, most unusually, heard: the app listens through the microphone and checks what you played. This website is the reference layer on top of it: the articles, the voicing explorer, and the practice pages with a playable band.
The sound and the diagrams
Every clip on this site is rendered from the app's own sample library — the same guitar, bass, and drums you hear in the app, from the MuseScore General sound library under the MIT license. The fretboard diagrams come from the same voicing engine the app uses, ported line for line and tested against it. What you see and hear here is what the app teaches.
